Arthritis and Joint Therapy

Arthritis in Dogs and Cats

Arthritis is often considered a disease of old age, but it is common in pets of all ages. It affects 35-45% of cats and dogs at all ages, 80% of dogs over eight years old, and at least 90% of cats over 10 years old.

Arthritis impacts the entire body and is a significant source of pain, inflammation, and stress. Treating arthritis can significantly improve activity level and attitude, quality of life, appetite, and more.

Wooflands Veterinary Center uses a multi-modal approach to treating arthritis, including oral and injectable supplements to help cartilage and joints, NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), pain medications, and physical therapy. Rehabilitation treatments for arthritis include laser therapy and other state-of-the-art therapies that provide cushion inside the joint to stop the inflammatory process before it starts.
